  1. from Rick Sowash, choral composer

I am Rick Sowash, 64, Cincinnati-based composer of about eighty choral works. Sacred, secular, a cappella, accompanied, humorous, serious.

May I please send you free PDFs and mp3s of some of my best choral scores?

If you like ’em, you can print ‘em and use ‘em. Good music; tonal, melodic, practical, do-able. Never crazy-long nor crazy-hard.

No charge. No hitch. My gift to choral directors and choristers, my homage to your beautiful genre, my way of thanking choirs for the interest they’ve shown in my work during the past fifty years. Yes, fifty. My first composition was an “Alleluia” I wrote for my Junior High School choir in 1963.

Please take two minutes and listen to the Harvard University Choir singing my setting of these inspiring words by the African-American civil rights activist Rev. Howard Thurman:

“Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive.
For what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

This recording is not on any CD. The Harvard University Choir simply recorded their performance and sent it to me. Hardly anyone has heard it yet! You are among the first!

Enjoy discovering it. Then, if you want to hear other mp3s of my music sung by the Harvard University Choir, the Gregg Smith Singers and other choirs, and see PDFs of those works, let me know and I’ll send you a selection.
